In 1881, Achille Ditesheim, barely 19 years old founded his own company in Switzerland and was soon joined by three of his brothers. In 1905, a new modern factory was built and a new company name was introduced:Movado.
Movado means "always in motion" in the international language of Esperanto.

It was a well thought out concept that worked in the early 1900s, and still works today, as Movado still hires world famous artists to design watches.
