Well read timepieces enthusiasts well know that Jacques-Barthelemy Vacheron went into a joint venture in 1819 with Francois Constantin (1788-1854), the company had different names, Abraham Vacheron-Girod, Vacheron-Chossat, Cesar Vacheron & Co, Charles Vacheron & Cie and Vve Cesar Vacheron & Cie. Eventually, by 1896 the company's name was set as Vacheron Constantin as it is these days.

The renowned name initially appeared on the dial of a wristwatch in 1910, joining the popular trend, along with it the Maltese Cross logo which had been adorning its pocket watches from 1880. In the post war years, many fine and most collectible watches came from Vacheron Constantin. Even in the present days Vacheron Constantin manufactures only about six thousand watches in its Geneva factory. Every watch drawing since 1840 has been kept, and there are full records of manufacture and sale dates, with movement and case numbers.
